How to write a simple service offer that clients understand

A good offer says what you do, who it is for, what is included and how much it costs, in plain language. Here is a template you can copy and adapt.

How to write a simple service offer that clients understand

Many skilled people lose jobs because their offer is confusing. A client who does not understand what you are selling will not buy it. A clear offer fits on one screen and answers five questions.

The five questions

  1. What do you do? One sentence, no jargon.
  2. Who is it for? The type of person or business you help best.
  3. What is included? The exact items they receive.
  4. How long does it take? A realistic delivery time.
  5. What does it cost? A clear price, or a clear starting price.

A template you can adapt

I design clean price lists for small food businesses. You receive one printable A4 design and one version sized for WhatsApp status. Includes two rounds of changes. Delivery in two days. Price: ₦X.

Notice how every sentence adds information. There are no empty promises like "best quality" or "affordable prices".

Use packages carefully

You can offer a basic, standard and extended version of your service, for example one design, three designs or three designs plus a short guide. Three options help clients choose without feeling pushed. Keep the differences obvious.

Be honest about limits

State what is not included, such as printing costs, extra revisions or rush delivery. This prevents arguments later and signals that you are professional. It is also wise to say that you start work once the agreed payment arrives.

Set your price fairly

Add up the time you need, your costs such as data and software, and a fair hourly value for your skill. Do not copy the cheapest person you can find. Very low prices attract difficult clients and make you tired. If you are new, you may start slightly lower, but plan to raise your price after each few jobs.

Show proof

Add two samples or one short testimonial next to your offer. Proof turns a claim into something the client can trust.

Test and improve

Send your offer to a friend who does not know your field and ask them to explain it back to you. If they cannot, simplify it. Clarity is the cheapest way to improve your results.
